Traveling to Rancho La Puerta begins with a scenic journey to the Tecate border crossing. Highway CA-94 offers one of California’s most picturesque country drives, complete with rolling hills and peaceful landscapes. As the highway features a few turns and splits, it’s helpful to keep a map handy to stay on course. Once at the border, you can opt to leave your car in a secure parking lot on the U.S. side for a fee of $10-25 per day. From there, a Ranch shuttle will meet you at the Baja Duty Free store to guide you through the border crossing and onward to the resort. Shuttle pickups are scheduled at regular intervals, ensuring a smooth transition to your retreat.
Driving from the Border
If you choose to drive across the border, reaching Rancho La Puerta is simple and direct. The resort is just 4.4 miles from the Tecate crossing. Follow the tree-lined streets of Tecate for three blocks, turn onto Juarez, and continue west for three miles. Look for the Ranch entrance on your right. Be mindful of topes (speed bumps) and stop signs as you navigate through town. For guests driving in Mexico, we recommend obtaining additional insurance for your vehicle. Check with your insurance provider or purchase short-term Mexican auto insurance near the border.
